Admitted - Need info!

OOS kid has always liked U-ME from research (likes Maine, likes cold, size of school is good), but we haven't been able to visit yet. Admitted! Anything anyone can tell us? Aside from cost, how would you view U-Vt and U-ME? Marquette and U-ME?

Lived in ME my entire life, and UMaine is an amazing university. Us Mainers are lucky to have it at public tuition. Out of the 6 or so UMaine schools around the state, Orono would be the best and most active. Orono is a college-town and there are other liberal arts schools in surrounding areas. It's very safe and is the definiton of 'community'. Your S will be exposed to fresh air, fresh ideas and refreshing people. It's equally as prestigous as University of Vermont (UVM) but UVM holds more of a prestige since it's much more expensive and has nicer buildings. UVM is for mildly intelligent rich kids. The demographic of students at UMO is suprisingly diverse for Maine and with such a large student body, there's always something to do. You truly never hear complaints about Umaine and the financial aid is amazing.
good luck to you and your son!
