Bullet just told me that he read an article that quoted a study done by the Scolars program, international studies. This is the program our DS was accepted to. I guess UMCP Scholars is now on the national map for their work.
As I understand it, these were scholars in the definition of researchers, not the students in the living program. I'm entering into the International Studies program myself, so you got me excited about it!
Regardless, this shows that UMD is increasingly relied on as a leading source in the political realm, which is awesome.
I thought the article was a very interesting take on the future of the US economy, political, and cultural influence. Zakaria's optimism is refreshing. He suggests that nanotechnology, biotechnology, computer science, engineering, communication, and higher education are areas where the US can expect tremendous economic growth. Interestingly, these are areas of particular strength at UMCP.
