Ok, sorry about cluttering up the forum but being an incoming freshman and with no one else to ask, I was wondering if its too early to be buying textbooks because I've found some good deals online for used and I'm kinda afraid of waiting but should I just to see if I even need the textbook in the first place?

Last year, D showed up to College Park with all her textbooks in hand.....she realized that she "wasted" money by buying books that her professors said were "optional" that she really didn't use at all. 2nd semester was an entirely different process for her..... If it's a class in the area in which you expect to major, you can probably go ahead and go for the good deals online.

Yes I would definitely say wait at least until the second day of classes (your second first day, if that makes sense, since classes are MWF and TuTh). If you order earlier, don't take the shrinkwrap off ANYTHING until you see it listed on the syllabus as mandatory and get confirmation from the professor.

just a word of wisdom... do NOT buy books from the university book center, unless the book is new and isn't offered anywhere else. buy used from Half.com, Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more, or BookHolders.com - your online book exchange

with bookholders, you can pick it up at the college park store or even get it delivered to your dorm.
