Chance me for the business school?

AZN male from MA (out of state)

GPA: 3.74 weighted ,3.5 unweighted? (not sure how to convert, but i have about B+/A- in all honors classes and B+/B in AP classes)

Top 15% of fairly competitive school in MA

SAT I: Not very good, and plan to re-take in october
CR 580 (moved to the U.S 5th grade, gonna work my butt off this summer to get it up to at least 600)
Math 740
Writing 610 (same thing with CR)
So should end up with around 2000+

SAT II: USH and Math ii are coming out this thursday, expecting 700+

APs: APUSH, Bio, Statistics this yr (psychology, chemistry, calc AB senior year)

EC: Varsity Track and Field (10-12)
Varsity Cross Country (11-12)
Freshmen Football
Church Missions Trips to Boston and Costa Rica (summer 06-08)
150 + hours of community service
Teaching assistant at Chinese School for first graders
Working at a communications company this summer

Plan to major in business/finance

Gibbusoft,

Not to undermine you, but sushi cutter is a match, not a definite acceptance though. There are numerous factors that are to his disadvantage, like being out of state and being Asian. Admission into Smith School of Business for freshmen admission is getting harder and harder. I believe to be admitted into the Freshmen Fellows program you need a 1300 SAT score and 3.5UW at minimum and that was for Fall 2007 so standards most likely will increase. The only thing that worries me in your case is your class percentage rank (top 15%) and GPA. I believe you will get into UMD but you may need to chose another school like Arts and Science or Communication, not an LEP.

@Bruins: I am out-of-state. From Pakistan. I didn't study at all for my SAT and got a 1650/2400. I had a high school GPA of 3.71. British curriculum education (O/A Levels). I got accepted for Computer Science

I've seen students with lower stats than you get in easily. Consider that, I say you are in.

good match but not definite

for the 2008 applicants the average gpa for incoming freshman was a 3.9 and the average sat was a 1350. The earlier you apply the better but the smith school is very competitive and you have a good shoot but you are not a shoo-in.

Terpfan12, thank you for approving my point that he is a match but not a definite acceptance.

Letters and Science or Smith School of Business, ivybaby19? I find this hard too believe because myself with a 1910/2400 and others who had below a 1300/1600 I know were automatically denied from Smith but admitted to L&S.
