You can check ourumd.com to see grade distributions for classes.

Dr. Barks isn't your real HONR100 teacher--the class is run by undergraduate section leaders.

That looks like a pretty good freshman schedule--I'm told ENGL201 and 202 are pretty interesting.

102/103 is a good lab science choice. I took those my first semester and had the shortest labs of any of my friends. (Some labs are very long or meet twice a week, etc.) As far as difficulty-- make sure you understand the basic concepts because everything else is built around that. I had trouble there. Don't feel stupid about asking the professor questions after class or asking someone sitting near you to explain a concept. The lab is fairly easy; just do the work and try to find a lab partner that seems like he/she will be willing to work also.

I had a different professor so I don't know about yours, but my prof was so boring that literally NOBODY went to the lecture. I went probably 3/4 of the time and on any given day there were only about 5-10 students there out of 100. I did no studying (because like I said before, I didn't understand the concepts). I also didn't understand that I HAD to study because college is not high school. Despite all this, I got a C+ in the class and an A in the lab.
