It depends on your stats.
If you're borderline for an average MD admit, it's unlikely you'll be accepted to the school.
If you're borderline for honors, then it's unlikely you'll be accepted to the program.
If MD is a super safety/safety for you, of course you would still be admitted into the school.
If you are way above an avg. honors students, then of course you'd still be accepted into honors.
My friend applied after the priority deadline and was WAY overqualified for MD and honors. She was accepted to MD easily, and with a small amount of merit aid (likely she would have gotten more had she applied earlier, though). She was NOT invited to gemstone/honors humanities, though she did get into the regular honors program, despite definitely having the stats to get in to everything, and I assume this was because she applied late. To give you an idea of her stats: 2200+- SAT, near perfect grades, 40 AP credits, great ECs, URM.
I assume she would have gotten a full ride and then some had she applied earlier, and of course she would have been invited into Gemstone/honors humanities. So, it matters a LOT if you are borderline/looking for the most merit aid possible, but if your only concern is getting into the school generally/getting into honors, then you still have a decent shot if you're an above average performer.
Hopefully you have already applied as I assume the earlier, the better. She applied around early December.
