Animal Science/Pre Vet Major

Hello! So, I just received my letter of acceptance from UMass Amherst last week. I want to be a veterinarian and I was just curious to see what people had to say about the Animal Science/Pre Vet program UMass offers. Is it a good program? Does it adequately prepare students for admittance into vet school? How common is it for students to be accepted to Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine with the early acceptance plan in their sophomore year at UMass? How many graduates get into veterinary schools? How many generally get into Cummings? I think the program looks pretty nice, but I don't want to go to UMass and then find out that it will be really hard to me to get into the veterinary school I would like to go to (Cummings) after having attended UMass. Would love to hear what people have to say about the program! thank you!

The pre-vet program is extremely good with a lot of research. Vet school is hard to get into and only like 16 people from a good school get in every year. Only one or two get in early action but that is still very good. Vet school is even more competitive than med school

Thanks for the info Skater94! Are you in the Pre-Vet Major at UMass Amherst? If so, do you like it? Do you know about how many people are in the Pre-Vet program each year? Is it a lot or only a small group of people? Do you also know how many people from UMass Amherst apply to the Cummings Early Action program each year? Thanks!
