i signed up for a rap in orchard hill but i'm kind of worried that living in ohill wont be as much fun as central/southwest. my parents are extremely strict and i definitely want to have a good time next year. will i be able to party a lot in ohill? thoughts?

Parties happen everywhere.

At one party at DS's dorm in Northeast(a.k.a. the nerd dorms), half the dorm got written up for alcohol violations and a bunch of people wound up getting kicked out of the dorm. It must have been one heck of a party...

Given that all the dorms are alcohol-free, you are at the mercy of your RA should you drink in your dorm. Some may be quicker to write you up than others.

For other kinds of partying... I don't have any info for you.

There is nothing stopping you from getting to know kids in other dorms and going wherever you want to party.

You can definitely party in Ohill especially since you're going to be a freshman. It may not be as crazy as southwest or whatever but it's still college and it's still umass so if you're looking for people to party with you'll find them. Also, Ohill is great because it isn't as loud so if you want to go out you can but on nights when you don't you can come back up the hill and have a quiet night in. Kids in southwest don't always have that option.

I did an honors rap in Ohill last year. There was no dearth in partying; my whole floor drank and partied and went to frats on the weekend, etc. Also, from my experience RAs are much more easy going in Ohill. My RA took shots with us a couple of times.
