Commonwealth College

Would the letter in the package they've sent out indicate if you were accepted? Mine said nothing about it, and I hate to sound cocky but I was fully expecting to get into CC. Would anybody who got in mind sharing their stats?

Commonwealth Stats

Dear SZ062,
Great gpa and SAT's, but I was under the impression that you must have at least a 1350,and be in the top 10% of your class to qualify. Did they automatically place you in commonwealth or did you call to inquire about it?
Congratulations!

What are the benefits to the Commonwealth College? Are the dorms better? Chances for scholarships/interships better? Or is it the pizza with the profs? Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm in CC, and to be honest being in it isn't really that special. There really aren't any special dorms for people in CC just some learning communities in a dorm that is up a steep hill. There are scholarships for people in CC that you can apply for as well. I'm not sure about the internships I guess it depends what field your looking into. Pizza with profs is alright, I went to one. Not many professors that intrest me though (I'm a sport management major) as they are mainly from humanities and sciences backgrounds.

IMO, there really isn't any incentive to be in Commonwealth College for my major at least just because of all the extra work you have to do to add another line on your degree. I wish they had more incentives like other Honors Colleges around the U.S. do like priority registration and better housing. Check out UMass Amherst: Commonwealth College the Honors College at UMass Amherst or PM me if you have any other questions.

I'm trying to choose between Commonwealth and Smith College, and having a really hard time finding legitimate information on the merit of Commonwealth.

If anyone else is in the same boat of choosing between Commonwealth and somewhere else, or if anyone has any information to share about Commonwealth, I'd be...wicked grateful.

Commonwealth is apparently really reputable.
Read this article in the Boston Globe a couple weeks ago:

if you can afford Smith, and don't mind that it is all women, go for Smith.
Where do you even compare the two?????
