| @taav_2... I'm wondering the same... I applied late January and got waitlisted. As for my stats, they're pretty good but I applied on Feb 1st (the date of the deadline) so that probably reeaally affected me:
*] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): Engineering
[ *] SAT:n/a
[ *] SAT IIs (if sent):n/a
[ *] ACT:34
[ *] UM unweighted GPA: international...so I'm on a different system.... umm 3.92 I'm guessing (one B)
[ *] Rank:1/156
[ *] Other stats: Lots of school awards, top 25% multiple national math contests
[ *] Subjective (ECs, special circumstances, etc):Student Council President, Astronomy Club president/founder, co-editor for school newspaper, Mission Team (travel to 3rd world countries to build houses), Band (clarinet - 4 yrs), Ballet (15yrs) - recieved distinction on every exam & worked with some companies, tutor 4 students in math, physics, and chemistry. Work at a Greek Deli 20hrs/week
[ *] Essays: This is where it goes downhill.... my essays weren't the greatest - one about overcoming the language barrier at the deli I work at, another about a ballet performance, then I attached an additional essay that I really liked and spent a lot of time on.
[ *] Teacher Recs: excellent - top in career
[ *] Counselor Rec: never saw? good I hope.
[ *] Hook (legacy, recruited athlete, etc.):none
[ *) Location/Person:Vancouver
[ *] State or Country: Canada
[ *] School Type: Religious
[ *] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[ *] Gender: Female
Anyways... so now I'm kinda debating...should I accept the spot on the waitlist?? I want to major in aerospace engineering, go to grad school at MIT, and eventually work for NASA. I got accepted to Purdue with $10,000 a year for scholarships, but apparently I'm qualified for another $ 40,000 scholarship... I don't if I'll get it though. I don't know how eager my parents are to help pay the cost of Michigan if I do happen to get off the waitlist.... are the programs between Michigan and Purdue for aerospace really that different?? |
