Letter of intent?

I was waitlisted, and I'm wondering if I should send Michigan a letter of intent. I was really hoping to go to Ann Arbor in the fall, but I applied late (Jan. 17). I didn't do the research I should have and didn't realize that I would be at a disadvantage by applying so close to the Feb. 1 deadline. I had decent stats (2180 SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, fair EC's, good essays and recs). Would it be worth it to send a letter of intent, and if so, how would I send it? (email, snail mail?). What address?

Thanks

wow.. you got waitlisted with those scores? definitely send michigan a letter of intent. Maybe do more, like talking with reps or emailing them on how your chances of getting of waitlist can get better.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? In the Contact Us section of umich's website, it doesn't have an email address, just a phone number and a mailing address.

If I were you, I would call UM admissions office immediately and ask for your admissions counselors email address and name. They will give it to you. You should then personally email them asking why you were waitlisted and what you can do to improve chances? I would also have your counselor call them. I was put on the waitlist in early April and did this, and was actually taken off the waitlist and accepted straight up.
