Check out the Maynard House. They sometimes have studios and one-bedroom apartments availlable for $1,000-$1,200/month. The location is awesome.

Just to be clear, you weren't thinking about the U-M-Dearborn campus? You'd like to live in Ann Arbor and commute to your internship? Will you be bringing your car or have access to transportation?

I worked at Ford WHQ in Dearborn and lived in Ann Arbor for over a year. It was very manageable.

You're going to have to commute a good 30 miles from A2 to Dearborn. With the price of gas i would recommend you sublet somwhere in West Dearborn. The economy is in the tank here and i'm sure you'll get a bargain somewhere fairly close to campus. West Dearborn also is very safe and attractive. You can always make a visit to A2 when you feel the need. By the way UM-Dearborn is overwhelmingly a commuter school. Not sure many students have apartments near campus who don't live there all year round.

$1000 for a lease in Ann Arbor during the summer is ridiculous. You should be able to find a sublet in a house/apartment on facebook for $300-400, with utilities included.
