Is this rumor true??

I heard that from someone that if you get a letter in the mail 2 weeks after the audition then it's a rejection letter and if it takes longer than that, it means you are being considered. Does anyone know if this is true?

I'd certainly say it's a rumor. We do know of several that recieved a rejection letter after 3 or 4 weeks.

From what I heard from other candidates, letters were received with either a rejection or a deferral almost exactly 4 weeks from the date of the audition. The last audition date is coming up soon on 3/27. The class should be finalized after that. Hope that helps

This is what happens:

Accepted: You normally get a call or email or see it on your Wolverine Access

Delayed Decision/Deferred: Your status will not update on Wolverine and you will eventually receive a letter

Rejected: Your Wolverine Status will say something along the lines of "Thank you for your interest..your file has been reviewed...written decision will be mailed to you over the next two weeks"

Normally your Wolverine Access will not update for about 3 weeks and that is what they tell you at the audition is your normal wait time.

This has been discussed many times on the UMich thread so I'd take a look around some more if you need to, but what I wrote is normally what happens.

More than 4 weeks

My D auditioned Feb 6 and has heard nothing. Makes me wonder if they're waiting for the March 27 auditions to decide.

Bird7887 is exactly right. That is exactly what happened with my Ds online status. She was rejected for MT and the online status changed to the will be mailed in 2 weeks thing. However...it took EIGHT weeks for the letter to arrive!!!! Good news is she WAS accepted for Vocal Performance with an amazing scholarship! The status online for that had the congratulations with an email soon to follow. Hope that helps.

people i know that were waitlisted never got the 'two weeks' thing. their status changed to waitlist or they just got a letter if they were earlier deferred and then changed to someone on the waitlist.

It seems to be a pattern this year that notifications occur almost exactly 4 weeks after the audition date so maybe you will hear something by next Saturday
