Can anyone offer advice on which dorm I should live in next year (i will be a freshman)? I was accepted into the honors program, so i have the option of living in honors housing in middlebrook, but I'm not sure if I want too....would I miss out on honors stuff if I didn't live in honors housing?

I am considering living in one of the freshmen dorms in the superblock because they seem more fun and it seems like it might be easier to make friends there. I feel bad stereotyping honors students, but I am worried that honors housing will be kind of all work no play and not have as fun and outgoing of residents.

Also, I am in the college of biological sciences so i think most of my classes will be on the east bank or st. paul, so i'm worried that it would be a pain to have to trek to those classes from middlebrook. PLEASE HELP!!!!! any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I'm actually going to be a freshman in CBS next year so I will try to pass on knowledge that my sibling gave me. My sibling lived in Pioneer last year, which is in the Superblock. It was ok, but she was stuck in a four person suite, which is rather small for four people. The most social dorm in the Superblock is Territorial, there seems to be plenty of partying and socializing, but if you are an Honors student you'll find problems concentrating on your work there. I hear Frontier is preferred if you don't want to live in Territorial. I actually put Middlebrook as numero uno because they have better dorms (not significantly better but still...) and I thought the West Bank was charming. There is a good amount of travel time involved, but for me (I wake up at 5:30 am every morning) waking up early to get to the East Bank and St. Paul didn't seem too bad. So to answer your question, I'd advise staying in Middlebrook. Sure there are non-social types there, but I hear most people are friendly and the hall has one of the better cafeterias on campus. If you feel that it is key to make lots of friends, the Superblock is definitely a great option. The truth is that most people make friends with some classmates and fellow students of their specific college (in our case there are only 350 freshman in CBS so you get to know plenty of people). Daughter lives in Middlebrook and when we asked about it before she picked a dorm they said that 95% of honors students choose to live in Middlebrook. She has made lots of friends and is having a blast but complains about the food. Don't start worrying about the East Bank, West Bank thing; you will have classes on both.
