I was merely pointing out that only a few houses at UNC are as you described and everybody knows which ones they are.....the rest are far better and ALL are lightweight when compared to many other schools....that and the fact that the Greek system is not an issue at UNC.

Thank you, eadad and BUandBC!

As I may have mentioned (we old geezeresses repeat ourselves a lot), one of my colleagues has a VERY gifted daughter who currently attends UNC. This girl and her BF are self-confessedly "nerdy"; the girl is also extremely shy. Yet she has thrived at UNC, both socially and academically. My colleague constantly assures me that UNC is so diverse, in so many ways, that anyone can fit in. Thanks for confirming this (and for disspelling my fears).

My colleague's daughter is very involved with the Newman Center, which seems to be large and active. My son looks forward to getting involved there, too, to the extent that his course schedule permits.

Thanks again!

LD
