Hey guys first I just wanted to say thank you for all the great help this forum has been. Yesterday I found out that I was accepted as a Junior to UNC...ecstatic is an understatement. To be honest I applied to UNC as a joke considering the fact that I was out of state and I decided not to submit my SAT/ACT scores. I had a couple questions if you don't mind:

First to me this is more like a freshmen experience because prior to my acceptance I went to a military college...what's the overall experience like over there?

Second: Although i traveled around a lot with my dad in the military (i'm used to being the new guy but easily adjusted) the fact is that this is a huge college. Thus I'm a bit nervous on what I can do to meet people etc. especially because I'm sure like I have in my 1st college...est. strong friendships by the start of junior year.

Third: I read from earlier posts about freshmen being on South Campus...where would you recommend a transfer go to? Although I do like to hang out (maybe a bit too much drinking) I decided to quit and focus more on academics. Is there a dorm that is a bit quieter and has more of that study-atmosphere? (sorry if that sounds like a stupid question)

Other than that..i'm so excited...this is the "college life" i always told myself i'd be missing during military college. Plus without doubt I'll be getting a better education. I'm amazed how fast the decision came...since the decisions for University of WA don't come out until June. Nevermind that now

Congrats on the acceptance! I am also going to UNC as a junior transfer. I am really excited, too, but also clueless about what dorms are better "study" dorms, so hopefully we get some advice on that. I'm sort of nervous about making friends and stuff too, and I know there is a decent amount of people on college confidential who have been accepted to UNC as transfers, so maybe we could somehow all meet up when we get to UNC.

You will meet other transfer students when you attend the transfer orientation (TSOP.) There are 2 one day sessions you can attend, June 26 or August 16.

As far as housing, transfer students are very last in the housing process; may live off campus. It is my understanding that transfer student have very little chance of being placed on North campus. Most will be on South campus, or Odom Village apartments (which use to be married student housing.)

Ther are private dorms called Granville Towers that are on Franklin street that many transfers look into living. Take a look here: http://www.granvilletowers.com/ There are pros and cons to living in Granville, so check it out.

UNC also has some new on campus apartments on South Campus that might be a possibility.

wassup! i too will be a junior transfer this fall.

diggler: just like you, i didnt submit my sat grades either. was accepted nevertheless. they still know my scores though, so the option to not submit them seems kind of moot. i'm pretty sure every high school transcript has each sat score printed on it.
