Anyone know if the order of the "likely" letters corresponds to how early the completed application was sent in?

I turned in my application on 10/31 at 8:30 and got a letter before this thread existed. I don't think there is a correlation.

ninja, was your application complete at that time then? I think a number of students who turned in their applications then still didn't have complete applications, because a recommendation or something hadn't yet been logged into the system. I would guess (and of course, it's only a guess) that admissions wouldn't pull a file to evaluate until it was complete.

I just got mine today! Talk about a messed up mail system.
I am in-state/ 1480 sat. Are these really likely letters? For those of you who are wondering how the letter reads, the first paragraph reads as so:
'I write to thank you for your distinguished application to Chapel Hill. Although our admissions committee will not complete its work until January, we have already been impressed by your achievements and potential. We believe you are an outstanding candidate- the kind of student who will contribute to our community and make full and creative use of the opportunties we offer.' (sorry about spelling errors)
I hope this is really a likely letter! It just seems so early! I sent my application in on October 12.

People talked about the strategic timing of sending them earlier to match up with the holiday weekend, but yeah, they are definitely likely letters.

I got my likely letter today, and it was dated December 4th. So for those of you who have not yet received one, it appears that they are sending them in bunches after they read applications.

Like others have said, don't worry too much if you don't get one. I didn't get one either, and I got in EA. |

Not getting a likely letter says absolutely nothing about your status. Getting a likely letter says keep up the good work and you're in. If you've gotten a likely letter, check out the website and try and visit (but don't have any celebrations until you get your official acceptance!). If you haven't got one, don't change whatever you're doing. Don't feel more apprehensive or sad!

Hmph...I have similar stats to the OOSers that got letters and I got nothing. I hate this process!
