| likely letters
Oh man I am soooo pumped right now, I got a letter in the mail today, "although our admissions committee will not complete its work until January, we have already been impressed by your achievements and your potential" :-D Awesome!

Got one too. Obviously a good sign, but do you really think it means anything? just wonderin don't want to overthink it.

I think its an unofficial acceptance, provided you don't commit a crime or start flunking everything. I'm in state, 1480/2150, 6 APs, 3.98/4.60, 21/435, sport 4 years, club, mentor an elementary schooler.

I checked my mail today but nothing but Christmas shopping advertisements and bills for the parents.....rats!!! I don't really expect to get into Carolina as a freshman anyway, but it is good to know they are already making contacts with some applicants. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

sounded pretty good since it said something to the effect of "we hope to see you here." etc.

omgomgomg! Congrats people! Hopefully I'll get one within the next week (I'm from California, so IF they sent me something, it would come later).
btw...if I don't get a likely letter, there's still a possibility I can get in in January, right? >_<

Those of you who are receiving likely letters, when did you apply?
And just to give some hope to those of you who don't get likely letters -- we're instate, and two years ago my D did NOT get a likely letter, but she did get in EA, was invited to the scholarship day, was invited to the honors program and was offered a big scholarship. A likely letter obviously means good news; but no likely letter doesn't at all necessarily mean bad news.
