| citymiddle, that's so strange. I paid my deposit yesterday and it still says I'm not authorized. I'm hoping it'll at least let me by tomorrow. |

| I talked to a person from housing today, and it appears all transfers are placed in Odum. Not exactly the place I wanted to be . |

| In past years, junior transfers were almost always placed in Odum. I am sure there were a few that were able to get around that, but as a whole, junior transfers that want to live on campus get placed in Odum. This is one reason many transfers will go to Granville because they feel it is better than Odum.
Granville usually has a transfer floor or two if that is something you are interested in. Sometimes have all transfer on one floor can be helpful as everyone is new together, but not having any returning students on your floor might make it harder to get to know the others in the dorm. |

| Aside from Odum, I didn't really have a preference. Odum was pretty much a last resort for me. It just seems so isolated, and so far away from classes/center of campus. I can certainly, understand why people would opt for Granville; it's much more convenient. |

| I only need housing for the fall semester. Is that possible or do I have to pay for the entire school year? |

| I'm definitely considering Ram Village (if I go to UNC). I don't know though. Being in one of the old historic dorms would be also pretty cool, but I'd want a single. I've had two years of sharing a room with people I've not necessarily liked. I don't need to do that again. Also, I make friends OK enough where I'm not too concerned about that. It'd also be nice to be close to Franklin St. However, in that case, I'd be far away from KF and the Dean Dome. |

| ok i went to campus today and checked out odum village... the location really isn't that great. it's a serious hike to north campus where most classes are and it is completely surrounded by construction.
if this is automatically where transfers are assigned... yikes! |

| ^Exactly. It's kinda behind the hospital parking decks, and there's always construction going on around the hospital. It's easily a 10-15 minute walk to most of the classrooms. I'm going to call or visit housing again when I get a chance. There has to be a way to get another assignment. |

| I don't know much about the dorms, but my son lives about a mile off campus and rides a bike every day--he says that Chapel Hill is very bike friendly. If you all do end up in a dorm fairly far from classes, you might consider a bike. |

| Hey guys,
I won't really know anybody when I transfer to UNC so I figured I thought I'd start a facebook group. Here's the link if you are interested in joining! UNC 2008 Transfer Students Group |
