Enrolling in UNC's Honor Program?

How do incoming freshmen know whether they are in the Honor Program?
I received a letter from UNC telling me that I could get a free Thinkpad if I went there. Does this mean I am in UNC's Honor Program?

Any input would be very much appreciated.

Sorry, but receiving a grant for a laptop does not mean you are in the honors program.

If you have not by now received an invitation to participate in the honors program, I expect it is reasonably safe to assume that you will not be receiving one. However, you could apply to participate after your first semester if you meet the criteria.

There is still time. there are limited spots but spots may free up on May 1 if people decide to go elsewhere. That said, my D had higher stats than many honors students and did not get an invite. She has taken honors classes with permission of the depts. If you aren't sure about your invitation..you can call the honors department.

Getting into the Honors program is very difficult. But, you can still take honors classes even if you aren't designated as an honors students. Also, you can get into the honors program once you are a student at UNC. You can even do an Honors thesis as a senior and graduate with honors even if you aren't in the honors program.

So, there will be several opportunities to participate in honors activities. Congrats on getting accepted!
