| Just got a call from administration office saying I got in... but the website has not updated yet. I was wondering if anyone was waitlisted and also got a call regarding their decision. Just feels kind of weird because its not official yet. |

| I was out when the call came, but I am hoping that is why they were calling----did they say how long we have to accept the offer or did you have to tell them on the spot? |

| Congratulations! I found out aoubt our lack of financial aid before it was posted on the web. I wouldn't be too concerned about your acceptance not being posted yet. |

| In response to timeline You have two weeks to accept. They will send paperwork in the mail. The website is not up to date. They don't call unless it is good news. |

| I got the same call on Friday, but I don't think I'm going to accept it. I've no clue why they waitlisted me, but I do know that UChicago accepted me off the bat in regular decision. I'd much rather go there.
Boo on UNC. |

| D got admit letter on Friday with PID with no phone call . Mocha_star-we were in the same boat as to being puzzled about why waitlist. D got into Vassar, Grinnell, Oberlin, Reed with merit scholarships to all. She was accepted to all schools she applied to with UNC the only waitlist. D was National Merit, lots of good AP scores, Governor's School, 2 varsity sports, extra curricular and instate. D thinks UNC didn't like her essay.D's sticking with Grinnell. I offered her a car to stay instate and go to Carolina instead (8k a year cheaper than Grinnell with scholarship and aid). My son is dumbfounded about her choice and would go for the car! I guess D doesn't want to go to Mom's old school.

| Correction to my earlier post-D's money to Reed and Oberlin were need grants, Grinnell and Vassar were nice-sized merit scholarships with some need.
Good luck to everyone. UNC is an outstanding deal for the $$$. Although D decided not to go to Carolina, she does plan to take advantage of UNC for summer school. |

| I just checked my voicemail and saw that I got in. Like mocha_star, I think I'm going to have to deny. I sent in my deposit to Georgetown, and have pretty much fallen in love with it.
It's sad though, UNC had been my #1 for so long, and I didn't even get excited when I heard that I got in. That's totally on them though, being deferred and then waitlisted was completely wack, and really put me off. |

| us,too we felt the same way hornet, mocha and the others that just did not get the whole deferred, waitlist, and the decisions on who got in and who did not. it really put us off and it took all of the fun and excitement out of college admissions. s go accepted after being deferred but never quite felt the same about the school after the leftdown. i too feel it is a good school for the money and son loved it but there is something about the way you are accepted into much "better" schools but deferred here. good school but not that good. we are very happy with the change of plans and actually think it was a blessing that it worked out the way it did. and my s actually had the same type of bribe...going to a more expensive school that he can't take his car to. we offered the car with a "bought space" if he wanted to accept unc and he still said no, the whole deferred thing gives them a power over me that I don't want to give in to! |

| So I got a call on Monday (missed it) and they left a message about whether or not I wanted to remain on the waiting list. Does that mean I'm gonna get in? I called back last night and left a message saying I want to stay on. If anyone could clarify that would be great. |
