Housing questions...

Heyyy
so I got accepted EA.. but i'm not sure if im going to attend yet. probably won't know till early/mid april.
I know i can apply for housing and stuff, but i'm not sure if i should because I don't know if i'm going to attend.

do you usually apply for it anyway just to get a head start, even if you're not sure??
or are you really supposed to wait until you decide to apply for housing??

also... best frosh dorms???

Thanks

housing isn't first-come, first-served (they assign rooms all at once), so even if you apply on the day of the deadline, you'll have the same chance as everyone else.

also, i'd definitely suggest that you live on south campus as a first-year in a big, social dorm like ehringhaus or hinton james--it's definitely the complete first-year experience. i lived in ehaus and totally loved it--i'm still best friends with ALL of my suitemates (yes, all seven of them!).

I believe you can request suitemates, and this almost assures that you will be placed into ehaus, craige, or hojo. Whether that's a good or a bad thing is up for you to decide.

Craige North is wonderful. Many people choose to return there for a second year. It's really nice, and the people are fun.

Gator2008, all I can tell you is my son was a sophomore last year, and had a roommate who was an exchange student from Italy, 21 years old, and he had a great time on Craige North. Don't know what year you would be, but the students there were about half freshmen and half sophomores. This year my son is at Odum Village in an apartment, and loving it. Very relaxed, lots of fun people, and having his own bedroom and a kitchen and living room while being just steps from Kenan-Flagler (he's a business major) is fantastic.

(Btw, is "Gator2008" a reference to Florida? I grew up in Gainesville.)

How do you feel about HUGE and HEAT? Too bad Gator basketball is having an off year. Meanwhile, Butch Davis is doing pretty well. . . .In any case, they're both great schools. I bleed orange and blue, and we've also become Tarheels since 2006. Good luck to you.
