Early Action v. Regular Decision?

I'm trying to decide if I should finish up my application really fast for the Early Action deadline today or wait for the regular decision in January so I can revise my essays (just wrote them today). Does anybody know the rate of acceptance for both?

I've heard that it's easier to get in if you apply early, but I've also heard the opposite. Any opinions or definite answers, or is this just speculation? I had great grades/activities/involvement for the first part of highschool but was withdrawn/failed a year in the middle; I'm so scared I won't get in.

Which option would be better for me?

According to the UNC website, you don't have any advantage to applying early action. You just find out earlier.

^True. There's also a slightly higher acceptance rate for Early Action, but that's only because more stronger candidates apply EA.
