A different look at admissions

I've wanted to go to Notre Dame since I was about 7, crazy I know. Everything I did up through high school, I thought, was to get into the school of my dreams. As high school passed however, yes I did "well", but not exceptionally, frankly, playing sports and being really involved in all aspects of my life took priority. So as senior year came and I was faced with doing my application, I was sure I had blown it, although my grades and SAT's were pretty good, they weren't the stuff that you expect an early action "acceptee" to have. Anyway, I applied and waited for what seemed like forever as many of you know... and through this I was only confident in the fact that there was NO WAY I was getting in. I guess I kind of spread this attitude around when people asked me where I had applied. But then, I was talking to my coach, and she kept stressing the importance of having positive thoughts and reminded me how many people I had "rooting" for me to get in, I never really thought about it like that before she said it. Finally, to what I think is against all-odds I got in to ND and I can't tell you how much I believe in what my coach told me. I know for all of you applying regular this probably gives you no solice, I know that we are told that admissions are logical, but in reality with so many students across the country that are extremely well qualified, maybe it isn't so unrealistic to believe in the power of positive thought. When I got my letter I did two things, thanked God, and thanked all those people who said they were supporting me. So, if you've kept reading up until this point, I really encourage you regular decision candidates to remain hopeful and to pray, and remember, every one of you have people out there who are rooting and praying for you too.

Congratulations, ontheroad88! You must have done something very right to get accepted to ND early admission. Give yourself a huge pat on the back!

You aren't crazy 88; it sounds a lot like me...well, maybe we are the only two normal people and everyone else is crazy . My message is also to never give up. I was just like you except I got the rejection letter and made it into Notre Dame as a transfer. It isn't just thinking positively, it also is never giving up! Good luck to all of you out there.
