ktwoo: I'm sorry about your news. You have good test scores , a great GPA and what sounds like some great EC's. It probably can't hurt to call your regional admissions rep and talk to him/her about the decision.

Case-Western, Dayton and Michigan are some great alternatives. (My kids both visited Dayton a couple of times and really liked the school - my brother went there and loved it). I hope whatever decision you make that it's the right one for you.

Thanks for the support and advice. Initially, I had written off the possibility of UD because it's literally less than five minutes from my high school, but I don't think I've given it a fair chance. They've offered me several scholarships, so it would definitely be a lot cheaper than ND would have been.
Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I wrote you a email as well but let me know if you do want to talk about transferring. It does sound like UD could be good for you as well, though, so definately see what you have there! Cheaper is good!

oo my best friend lives near Orchard Park in Cheektowaga, and from what he tells me, they have some of the prettiest houses there since a lot of the families come from money. His one neighbor moved there a few years back.

Yeah, Orchard Park is kind of a bubble. Nobody knows what goes on inside, and nobody inside has any clue about the real world. Most people do ok, but we have a mix like any other community

"Batavia, NY.. halfway between Buffalo and Rochester."

I only know about Batavia because we use to meet my aunt there when we visited her in Rochester.
