| [b]Decision:[WAITLIST/b]
(Mom writing about my son) Stats:- SAT: 2230
- SAT IIs: 800 MATH IIC; 800 CHEM; 690 BIO
- ACT: didn't take
- GPA: 3.5 W
- Rank: doesn't rank but not in top 10%
- Other stats: 5 on Chem AP, 5 on Calc AB AP, 4 on US AP, currently taking 4 more APs; have always taken highest level courses (although that definitely contributed to a lower grades); National Merit Commended Scholar
Subjective:[ list][*] Essays: great, written with ND in mind[*] Teacher Recs: assuming, really good[*] Counselor Rec: ditto[*] Hook (if any): lots of ECs including much community service: state cert. EMT, Eagle Scout, more. Lots of leadership. Also, pianist, founded a frisbee team (current captain), debate trophies, etc....[/list] Location/Person:- State or Country: CT
- School Type: public (school doesn't do well with ND)
- Ethnicity: White, catholic
- Gender: Male
- major strength/weakness: Weakness: grades, Strength: well-rounded
- why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: GRADES
- going to attend? ??
Other Factors: This waitlist was flattering, since the grades weren't great ... and BC rejected him!
To the person who wanted to call to find out why he/she was rejected, I say do it! I called one school because it just didn't make sense. It changes nothing, but it makes you feel better.
To all who were accepted: Congratulations!
To those who weren't: Don't let this get you down. You all sound like wonderful kids and the right school is out there waiting for you. Take it, make the most of it, and don't look back!

sorry... don't know how I screwed up that second paragraph - thought I took the spaces out.
Oh well, it's a good thing I'm not the one going to college!

I was accepted as an ND scholar!
Notre Dame sounds like an awesome place and I can't wait to visit. It's going to be real tough for me to choose between UCLA (whom I've been a fan of since the age of 5), Stanford (it's Stanford), and Note Dame which seems to have such an awesome atmosphere.
