Urgent question concerning ND Application

Is the essay in section 8 called "A Final Note" a requirement? If it isn't a requirement, would you say that its one of those things you sort of have to do even if its not required in order stand a good chance at being admitted. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

No on both. If you feel there is something you just have to say or your application isn't complete, then you put it there. If you are satisfied that your application will tell them that they need to know, then leave it.

Use it to explain a low grade/score or anything that might hurt your application but has a reason it's low. However, dont lie. If you got a C in math, dont make an excuse if you just simply, got a C. That section is pretty much a free space.

I dont think your cousin going to Notre Dame helps much. If it did, i think it would be part of the application. IMO the space is to be used to explain faults or inconsistencies with your application.
