Joe I think you have a very good shot. Your SAT is very good and your grades are actually very good - I'd guess they are much more concerned with your later grades than your freshman year. You're in the top 5%, right? And your EC's are solid. It would appear your chances are promising.
I've been told they consider grades more than SAT, however, I just have trouble with the idea that they throw the USNews and World Report rankings out the window. But again, both your SAT and your grades are in range if not a little above. My son got in EA with a 1480/33, 3.91 weighted, top 10%, Eagle Scout, class officer, etc., so you see why I'm guessing you are probably going to be accepted, but who knows? The good news is you don't have to wait more than about four or five weeks from now. You can make it!
I've decided kids and parents alike post asking chances because we all get impatient waiting for decision letters. I felt the same way two years ago. Unfortunately, you will still feel nervous until you get that letter, no matter what anyone on here says, right? So just go with it, forget about it, and remember your life will be excellent with or without this one thing. Remember, YOU make and own your life, not a university.
