Where should we stay for orientation?

My ds will be a freshman this year. We will be coming up on Thursday of orientation weekend so my dh and I will need a hotel for thursday, friday, sat. Anyone have any recommendations? I am thinking I need to make my reservations soon!

Also.... anyone else going to MacBeth? My ds says no way but my dh and I want to go so may just leave him at the hotel.

You might try The Morris Inn--but at this point, reservations may be hard to find. The Morris Inn is located on campus and super convenient. In terms of location, try Courtyard Marriott or Springhill Suites located in the Grape Road vicinity of South Bend/Mishawaka. There is also another hotel very close to campus-Inn at St Mary's. Try googling to locate reservations. Hopefully, this can be a start for you--other people may suggest even more hotels. I would highly recommend that you start checking into reservations as soon as possible. As you can imagine, the South Bend/Mishawaka area does not have a plethora of hotels and reservations may be difficult to come by. Hope this helps and good luck!

PS--you might try using Anthony Travel; this is the university travel center. Try their website AnthonyTravel.com for university travel to Notre Dame. There is a section for First Year Orientation. I imagine they have blocks of rooms that are available thru their agency at different hotels around South Bend. We have never used the agency, but I am sure they are reputable.

It is probably best to secure a reservation as soon as possible. I have a feeling that the Morris Inn is booked solid and the Inn at St. Mary's might be as well. There is a Hilton next to the Inn at St. Mary's that is probably the best hotel in the area. It is a bit expensive but is literally right next to campus.

The Residence Inn's by Marriot are also great options. Their rooms are spacious and filled with all sorts of amenities. There are two in the area. I have stayed at both of them and found the pricing reasonable (at least as reasonable as it can get during peak traffic time!).

I think my family is staying at a Quality Inn a few minutes from campus. Cheap, probably not all that nice, but close. We had a really hard time finding a reservation, so anything that gives you a roof over your head and isn't miles away would probably work just fine!

We stayed in Mishewaka. Newer hotels than the main drag alongside campus. Near enough to campus as well as major shopping such as Bed, Bath and beyond. I think we stayed at the Comfort Inn.

Thanks for the advice to make my reservations now! I did end up going through Anthony Travel as I tried to make some on my own and could not find availability. We will be staying at Waterford Estates.... a little more than I wanted to spend but very close.

Thanks so much!!
