| Calculus I vs. Elements of Calculus I vs. Elements of Calculus II
I already submitted my course selection form since it was due a week ago, but I am considering calling to have that selection changed since I got my AP scores yesterday.
I took AP Calc AB as a senior and had a C+ final average. I had a B first semester (mainly differentiation) and a low C second semester (mainly integration). I found differentiation as a whole much easier than integration, but I was really bad at the "application" of either, so for differentiation, I was awful at optimization, and for integration, I was awful at volume. I could do related rates pretty well, though. I ended up getting a 3 on the exam.
When I submitted my course selection form, I chose Calculus I, but I am rethinking this because I was clearly not very good at calculus at all. The course descriptions suggest that the Elements of Calculus courses would be better for prospective A&L students (I am probably going to major in political science or another social science, and plan on going to law school after undergrad).
Basically, do any current students have any information regarding the difficulty of any of these calculus courses? Technically I am exempt from Elements of Calculus I, but I don't know how wise it would be to jump right into Elements of Calculus II. Though, it does kind of appeal to me because then I would only have to take one math course.
Oh, also, would I have the option of just not taking calculus altogether? I don't think that the Elements of Calc I and Elements of Calc II have to be taken as a sequence, so since I get credit for Elements of Calc I, and then take something like, say Beginning Logic, would I still fulfill my math requirement? Will my transcript show that I have credit for Elements of Calculus I?
