Question About Financial Aid?

We received a letter in the mail asking for the IDOC documents that we have not sent in yet. (My parents say they are not available for them to send yet.)
If we get them sent in soon, will I find out the financial aid award quickly? I want to know before the May 1st deadline. :/

I sent in a large packet to IDOC on March 2nd and it took almost three weeks for ND to acknowledge receipt. Granted, this was at the peak time for IDOC. Hopefully their turn around time is faster now.

You may want to send them directly to ND Financial Aid. I was missing a document, and they told me to fax it to them directly. It may be different if there are a lot of forms or returns.

I would probably fax it to Notre Dame, and Express MAil to IDOC.

I have another question about financial aid, so I figured I could just re-use this topic.
I got a scholarship from a restaurant for $500. They made the check out to me, so I put it in my savings. I also had ND add it to my financial aid award as an outside aid.
Question is: do I have to give the money to ND directly? I was actually hoping to spend it on books. Idk if anyone else has had this issue or not! Thanks.

If you told them you received it as outside aid, they probably deducted it from whatever grant money you got from ND. If they don't receive a check from the donor directly, I assume they just bill it to your student account. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I know that money from outside donors is simply deducted from what you owe the University when they receive the money. If they don't receive it, they'll bill you. Either way, you'll end up paying the same amount, so I think you can just use the money you have in your account to pay for your books.

We had this problem two years ago. Two of my daughter's local scholarship checks were made out to her, so she cashed them and told ND what the amounts were. They said that she should have made the actual checks over to them. We sent copies of the award notifications along with a check, but they made it clear that this wasn't the proper way to do it. I really don't see the difference, but perhaps it's easier to keep the record official using the original checks.

I found something on the Financial Aid conditions saying you are supposed to endorse it and send it to them. Woops :P!
