Notre Dame Is Spectacular!!!! but can I get in....

Hey!

Would you mind chancing me for Notre Dame?

Here are my stats.
Graduating 2010
GPA - 3.7ish unweighted (my school doesnt weight)
ACT - 32 (retaking this fall)
SAT - Not taken yet (taking in fall)
PSAT - 208
AP CLASSES :

AP English Language and Composition - 5
AP Biology - 5

Have taken almost all possible honors classes. Only didnt take AP US History. Contemplating not taking AP Calculus next year and just taking Calc (opinions?)

Also taking AP English Literature this year.

Took 3 years spanish (started a year ahead at spanish II)

Extra Curriculars:

wont list them all but...

NHS member
At least a National Merit Commended Scholar....Possibly semifinalist (im right at my states cutoff for last year so fingers crossed)
Medical Mentorship Program at local hospital (will have probably around 30 hours of following an ER doctor and learning, as well as helping)
Parish Council Member
Youth leadership for my youth group
Timothy Award winner for leadership at my church
Week long mission trip to Appalachia
Varsity Tennis
1 year Varsity Golf
History Club (possible officer this year)
Volunteer at Hope Clinic (around 10 hours)
Vacation Bible School Worker
And some more...

My dad went there so Im a legacy!

I am planning on majoring in something related to biology...and currently planning on a med school path.

Thanks so much!!

ok,

sat/act - on par with ND (maybe a one point lower on the ACT - but that is just what I have heard, I don't know anything about it). the 208 looks good though on the PSAT

the GPA is good as well (if you could get into the 3.8s that by 1st semester that may do well).

for calc, i suggest going the AP Calc route...they want to see that you challenge yourself and that would help show it.

AP scores are great...especially if you intend to enter bio

your extra-curriculars are good (did you do tennis for 4 yrs?)....the hospital "internship" is a good thing as well...may lead to an essay, or another essay topic could be your mission trip which is important to ND (however, i think that many people who go on mission trips write about them, so if the hospital one has more to it, then maybe go with that; but if you have some sharp life changing memories from the mission trip, that might be more powerful.

there was a discussion about how much ND legacies matter and while we saw some odd cases, it can't hurt you, but don't rely on that alone to get you in.

You have a solid chance to get in as you are very qualified, but remember college admissions is a tricky business as 70% of ND's applicants are "qualified." I don't mean to scare anybody, but just want you to know that you are never a "lock" to get into anywhere. That being said, I think you have a really good shot. I would go RD as well.

If you have any questions, just reply back or PM me.
