I know it's a really good school and all, but I'd just like to know more about life there. Is it really cold? What exactly is there to do off-campus? And are there good job/internship opportunities around, or do you have to wait till summer to get them? I went to visit and from what I remember it was a beautiful school; it just seemed a little secluded.

Yes, it can be very cold esp during the months of Jan and Feb. Beautiful school even in the middle of winter!

There is a Fall Career Fair later this month w/many job ops and internships. Many varied employers will be on campus interviewing for positions. Later in the year, there will be another Career Fair (Winter) in Feb. Career Center on campus is an excellent tool for job ops as well.

the campus life is really awesome...there is legends and parties all weekend. There is not much to do off campus except parties, but there is enough stuff for me at least to keep entertained on campus.

There are also a a LOT of volunteer opportunities in the South Bend community. And there's so much to do on campus that you won't even be able to do everything you want to do.

One of the great aspects of campus in my opinion is the Debartolo Performing Arts Center on campus, which brings in world class musicians and performers to campus for students to see at a heavily discounted rate. It also hosts Notre Dame undergraduate performances, shows, and films.

With there being 29 dorms, most have their own big signature event or week; examples include the Keenan revue (a comedy show), the Dillon Pep Rally, Alumni Wake Week, Carroll Chistmas, etc. Dorms also always have formals.

There are hundreds of clubs, and they put on tons of events, including bringing in artists such as Ben folds, Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate, OK Go, and Carbon Leaf just in the past few years.

During the fall semester, football weekends are just incredible, and the away weeks, game watches! And when it's not football season, basketball and hockey games are also very exciting.


These are just free time activities. Most Notre Dame students are very involved, and I personally know friends that volunteer in South Bend for tutoring, at a hospital, and at a learning development center. One example of a service program set up is where students take the extra food leftover at one of the dining halls on campus every week and deliver it to a local organization to give away.

For summers, companies that come at career fairs (hundreds) for internships are generally looking for juniors, even though I know a couple people who obtained some as sophomores. Other options for summers, however, could be service, study abroad, research, and many other options that ND's center for social concerns, your academic department, and career center have many people helping you get hooked up with.


Basically, you'll be able to easily keep yourself busy
