Unified Auditions

I am auditioning at the Unifieds in LA, but I was wondering if OU required all the same materials as it does for those auditioning on-campus. If anyone knows, let me know! Thank you so much.

I may be wrong, but I think OU at unifieds is just a pre-audition for being evaluated to be invited to campus for the audition.

it is true, in fact...i auditioned for them at the thespian festival this summer and they said that it would count as my pre-audition to be invited to audition on campus..i got confused and thought i could just audition for them at unifieds and they said i could, but it would be unnecessary because i would still have to audition on campus no matter what. not easy on the budget!

I'll agree it's true, and difficult. You must preaudition and be invited to the on campus audition. OU told us they saw ~3000 last year and admitted a class of 12... My D is going to NY for 5 auditions, including OU. Did you notice we are from Texas? She is auditioning for OU in NY, and NYU in Houston. Is this crazy or what?

Callback

My D got a callback at the L.A. unified audition...so we are heading to Oklahoma for the March 7 audition. Will anyone else be there?

I also was told that throughout the country 3,000 students audition...then about 100 - 120 are invited the the school. I find that very hard to believe...does anyone know for sure?

Yes and only 12 to 16 of those invited to the school make the program.

Also, just as an FYI - they have recently re-done the MT website, but the section regarding grads is about 3 years out of date. One 03 grad is currently the Lady of the Lake on the Spamalot tour, another grad has been in a couple City Center Encores, several in regional and national tours, etc.

I was also at the LA unified auditions...I am curious to know if the callback was issued at the end of the audition or if they actually called to inform you of the callback...I hope I'm not out of the running yet.

sdguy ~ My S knew on the spot that he had a callback. That was followed up about a week later with a letter inviting him to the campus audition. That was from Chicago Unifieds. I also know of a girl that came out of her audition and told her Dad that she had a callback as well. They did say that a list would be posted outside the door at a certain time of the day, but we never checked it as we already knew. It wouldn't hurt to call them and ask as I believe their last on campus audition date is March 7.
