the long sheets conspiracy

I was just wondering if anyone has any insight into the long sheets that students are supposed to buy in order to fit the dorm beds. Colleges seem to insist that normal-sized sheets will not fit their beds but in the previous 4 college programs that I attended, normal-sized sheets worked fine. Is this a conspiracy?

Supposedly regular sheets won't fit. But I heard that the sheets Penn is trying to get us to buy are cheap. I'm buying mine from Bed Bath and Beyond because I heard they have better quality and the long sheets.
