Chances for Wharton. Not a typical student

9th grade:3.2
10th grade: 2.9
11th grade: 4.0
SAT: 2300-2340 on practice tests
Top 10%
Black
Single Parent home
1st gen college
Self Studied 6 AP's 11th grade. 4's and 5's on all.
Mom makes 32k a year
I started an online business which makes me about $150ish a day.
400 community service hours at a local homeless shelter

college is only as good as where it can get you...your business adventure sounds interesting. If you are already netting approx. 50k a year why not see how far you can push it? (you already are making the same salary as a first year penn grad). However, if you think there is a cap on the salary, or want a college experience, etc. then go for it.

now for the chance. Your GPA is weak, SAT scores are great, your story sounds interesting (make sure the essay rings this), lots of community service, and URM...

I think you stand a good shot at it. Also, I believe you have to take a few SAT 2 subject tests, so just make sure you do well on those.

get the real scores and then you'll have a better idea. If they come in as high as you think, try to visit the school, especially for one of their diversity events. You'll likely want to address the grades in your essay or elsewhere. If there were special circumstances involved, have your guidance counselor mention this.

If you do as well as predicted on the SAT you would have a decent shot at Wharton, the hooks you have will help you a lot.
