Penn ED deadline extended

From the Penn Admissions website:

Please be advised that the deadline for admission under the Early Decision Program has been extended to Tuesday, November 6, 2012. To apply to the University of Pennsylvania you must complete and submit both the Common Application and the Penn Supplement to the Common Application.

Thank god! I gave my math teacher a teacher recommendation form, and he still has not started it..... My essays are done but it'll give me a few days to spice them up. Also, I got n email from Columbia, but not one from Penn...

Actually I got an email from Penn saying that the deadline is the 1st of November; I got the email on 10/26/12.

Honestly, I'm incredibly p***ed off about this. I was totally freaking out about the deadline, and as a result I submitted it yesterday w/o really perfecting my essays. If I had known about this new deadline I would have waited and made my essays that much better. Ah well. C'est la vie.

Haha I was just about to post this. Got an email from Columbia (extended 'til the 5th) and so I checked if UPenn was doing the same.

You have no idea how happy this news made me!!

It's Climate Change, formerly known as Global Warming. Freak snowstorm at the end of October last year, freak "Frankenstorm" at the end of October this year.

Maybe the doubters and deniers will start paying attention.

On the Common App the ED deadline is still 11/1 though...does that matter?

No, that's just because Common App hasn't updated it yet

wait, so is the deadline extended for everyone? I mean i live in colorado and i'm not affected by the hurricane. Initially on the websites it said that the deadline is only extended for people who have been effected by the storm.

???

^^ Where did you see that the deadline was only for people affected by the storm? I live on the west coast and many of the people at my school applying to Penn (myself included) got emails saying the deadline was extended for everyone. Critical Deadline Update - Penn Admissions has an early decision extended deadline announcement that does not specify that it is only for people potentially affected by the hurricane...

The email that I got and the website says this applies to all applicants "regardless of place of residency."

Will it affect my application negatively if I live on the West Coast, and I turn in my application on the 3rd of November?

Thank god it's extended! But I find that I'm procrastinating more now that I know I have more time. Sigh.
