Should I submit this recommendation?

My uncle did his undergraduate at Penn and his graduate at Yale. He is now one of the top five cancer surgeons for women in the United States. I sent him my information, and waived my rights to see it so he could send it straight to the school. In perspective, will this have any effect?

Not really unless you interned with him. He probalby will not be able to say much extra. Just think about it: if he went to Columbia instead of Penn would you have him write a rec? If not, then dont bother.

Your uncle? I don't think submitting recommendations from your family members is a good idea...
