HELP - Advice about dropping a class, please?

I am a senior and currently enrolled in an AP course which I feel was misrepresented from the beginning. Our teacher has now supposedly said that there is even a certain section on the AP exam we will not be prepared for because the county cannot provide the necessary materials. I have been receiving about 3 hours of homework per night in this class- and this is on top of three other classes (two honours and one AP)- and the teacher is constantly stressing that we have only 11 weeks until the exam and he doesn't care that we have other classes. I have taken 9 other AP classes and have never felt this much stress in my life.

Our school is on a block scheduling system. If I drop the course now, one week into the new semester, it goes on my transcript as a "Withdraw/Failing" grade, and I get a 0 averaged into my GPA.

I don't know what to do. Of course I'll discuss it with my counselor, but if I drop the course and notify Penn and other schools I've applied to... is it going to do long-term damage? It will probably devastatingly change my GPA and class rank. (I was 1st in a class of 400+ at the beginning of the year, but may be 2 or 3 now.)

Any thoughts? Thanks.
