| i kind of liked all that college spam...made me feel important to be getting mail
haha but yea, i was an ED applicant but i dont actually remember freaking out when i got my pass/pin. actually, none of the ED applicants made any hints that they got nervous of their pin's. i think its because with ED there is a definate date of notification, whereas many schools do likely letters for RD, and sometimes relsease decisions earlier than expected. oh well |

| Just got mine yesterday an I'm in western New York. That was definitely the creepiest letter they possibley could've sent. It's so close to the deadline and everything. And on the front I could see "admissions office" like through the envelope...I almost had a heart attack. They definitely did that on purpose, haha.
At least it's not "you're accepted...APRIL FOOLS!" |

Would the word be REJECTED or the less straight-forward NOT ACCEPTED?
| Wouldn't they have to bold the "not" or something? And that emphasis seems a bit cruel. The word "rejected" seems equally cruel anyhow.
Now I want to know what my rejection letter will look like... If it begins with "exciting news" I'll be very upset to say the least. |

| Dear <student>,
We're really sorry, but you're just not up to snuff. Put down the gun, screw the lid back on the pills, and untie the rope- it's gonna be okay. Not everyone was cut out to be a Quaker.
In short: you've been rejected.
Peace out!

Dear<student>
You are unworthy to recieve a letter by mail, so we just email you to let you know that you suck! And you failed in life. And we just rob 70 dallors from you. and they are not paying me enough to write this email so good bye.

Dear <student>,
After carefully reviewing your application, we have come to the realization that you have applied to the wrong school. However, because we believe that you are a strong and hopeful candidate, we have gone through the liberty of including this complementary Penn State app with this letter. Good luck in your college endeavors, as I am sure you will succeed at Penn State!

| lol thanks smartbrotha...
the worst part is, if someone got that letter, it'd prob. be in a thick/large envelope because of the Penn State app! |

| I think this thread should be a featured thread; seriously. It seems so unusal Penn's introducatory sentence at this time of likely letters, rejections, and acceptances. Also, I love the title of this thread. It expresses exactly how a person feels upon seeing this letter. |

| For those who have the fortune of being admitted to Penn, your letter will begin with something along the lines of "On behalf of the Admissions Committee, I am delighted to invite you to attend the University of Pennsylvania as member of the c/o '11 in the College at Penn (or wherever you applied)."
Do not be fooled by the strange diction.
Last year, I read this opening on March 30, and thought to myself, why are they inviting me to a party? I want to go to college! And then I realized and laughed. |
