| Actually when converted, my ACT score is higher than your SAT score...my my class rank is better than yours and my extracurriculars likewise were really good, I just didn't feel like listing them all for a school I'm not going to attend. Just to let you know, these stats profiles show a very small perspective of what the admissions committee sees. It's very hard to say who's better than who by looking at them and you never know what the admissions committee wants.
With that being said, I'm sorry you were rejected. |

| Finally getting around to doing this now. Waitlisted: Wharton Stats:- SAT Verbal: 760
- SAT Math: 790
- SAT Writing: 720
- SAT Total: 2270
- SAT II: 770 Math I, 800 Math II, 800 Latin
- ACT: n/a
- AP/IB taken/scores: Lang&Comp - 5; US History - 5; Latin Lit - 5; taking BC Calc, Physics, Gov, Lit & Stats this year
- GPA weighted: 4.81
- GPA unweighted: 4.0
- Rank or % estimate: School doesn't rank, but I'm somewhere from 1-3 / 145
Subjective:- Essays: One on being kicked out of AP Chem to fulfill art requirements (I thought it was pretty good); the other was a bit more abstract & had to do with my being an analytical thinker. The best, though (at least I thought) was my Why Penn/Wharton essay--wrote about a lot of reasons why the school would be good for me and vice versa.
- Teacher Recs: Very good
- Counselor Rec: Extremely good
- Hook (if any): Legacy, though my GC warned me that wouldn't help me unless I applied ED. Should've listened. I also thought my Girl Scout Gold Award project would help.. apparently it didn't.
Location/Person:- State or Country: MA
- School Type: Extremely small, elite public school--feeder school for Harvard (4/145 got in this year); sends dozens to top schools each year
- Ethnicity: White
- Gender: Female
- Legacy Yes/No: Yes
- Recruited Yes/No: No
- Important ECs: Mock Trial (2 yr Captain), Math Team (Captain), Model UN (founder/secretary general), AAU Co-Pres, Literary Magazine secretary, Student Council, School Council, Varsity Field Hockey (1st team All-Star), Varsity Tennis, Physics Olympics, Peer Ministry, Girl Scouts
Other Factors: Er.. yeah, nothing really. My GC warned me against applying EA to Yale instead of Penn, saying that being a legacy RD might actually make it harder for me to get in, but, naturally, I didn't listen. I got into Duke & Georgetown, though, so will probably end up doing poli-sci and going to grad school for business. General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Congrats on those who got in, though I shall, of course, love anyone who turns down Wharton for Harvard/Yale/Princeton/wherever else. :-) Not too expectant on getting off this waitlist, but my dad is one very angry alum right now, so maybe he'll be able to do something |

| I'm sorry, but this kind of goes back to the whole thing i said a few months ago about Penn's policy with legacy applicants only going for RD---i don't think they look favorably at it. |

| Yeah, which kinda bothers me. >.< My dad's pulling the "legacy" connection more to get me off the waitlist, though, so maybe that'll help.. I know it isn't necessarily a fair thing to hope for, but maybe angry alums leads to legacy meaning more in the "waitlist round"? |

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Penn was never really one of my top schools... I applied to Wharton only because I'm looking to go into business in the future. It's all good though; many of my friends got in CAS so I'm happy for them. |

| I just thought I would try to encourage you guys who got wait-listed... I was wait-listed when I applied to Penn, and I got in, and I'm a junior now. There is definitely still hope! I would suggest that you do what you can to make sure they know you really want it, if Penn is your first choice. |
