Anyone knows how many waitlisted were admitted to Wharton in the past few years?

Only a total of about 20-30 were admitted last year from the waiting list to all 4 undergraduate schools.

^ Hear that? That's the sound of my dreams being slowly trampled upon by 45 percenter.
Just kidding. I hope that an extra 15 percent of the freshman admits just decide to go somewhere else, then we could all get in!

^ Sorry!

But it's probably better for people not to get their hopes up unrealistically. I believe that last year there were about 800 or so on the waiting list, so the chances of being admitted from it were pretty slim.

However, this is an unusual year for Penn admissions in that it was difficult to predict the yield rate with Harvard and Princeton dropping early admissions and several of Penn's peers--along with Penn--significantly expanding their financial aid programs in recent months. Penn did admit about 170 kids more than last year to try to compensate for the anticipated lower yield, but who knows? It's always possible that they may have to rely on the waiting list more heavily than in the past few years.

I was waitlisted for class of 2011 for Wharton and somehow got accepted off the waitlist.
I found out around May 10th.
Last year, they picked around 20-25 from around 900 on the waitlist.
What I did: A week after I found out I was waitlisted, I contacted my regional admissions officer and personally expressed interest to him. I also sent the admissions office a brief letter updating them of any achievements b/w the application date and the decision date.

I've been there, it sucks.
That said, good luck!

neutralnuke: what'd you actually say to your regional officer? just that you wanted to call to express your continued interest?
