Transfer to CAS for Econ

I want to try to transfer to Penn CAS for econ from the University of Michigan. Should I take Calc 2 during my second semester here? I don't really like calc, so I will not take it if I don't have to (if I stay here or transfer to any of my other choices I won't have to). But, if I do get accepted to Penn and transfer, I would have to take it. Is calc 2 something that I need to take before transferring, or can I take it there if I do transfer? Will it look bad on my application if I don't take it?

Are you a freshman or a sophomore? I transferred to Penn after my freshmen year, and wrote my essay about wanting to be an econ major. I had only taken Calc I. It was not a problem.

redsoxgirl, I tried PMing you again, but that didn't work because it said your mailbox is full and I can't send anything until you clean it out. So, I will just post it here.

This might be getting a bit picky, but I am curious at your opinion. Like I said, I plan on taking Intro to American Politics, Physics 1 (Mechanics), Macro, and an an Intro Computer science course next semester. So, that is like 3 math type courses and 1 humanities/ social science course. Do you think its better to take a 5th course that is also a math type course, like Stats or something like that, or take more of a social science/ humanities course, like Russian Literature or Psychology 101?

Prospective transfer students applying to study the sciences or Economics should have adequate preparation in college-level calculus in order to be successful in these majors.

Mathematics 104/114 or 104/115. All upper level economics courses, including the intermediate theory courses (Economics 101 and 102) and Economics 103 assume familiarity with topics in multivariate calculus. For this reason, Math 104 and Math 114 (or 115) are prerequisites for these courses. Majors and prospective majors need to complete Math 104 prior to enrolling in Economics 101 or 102 AND have completed or be concurrently enrolled in Math 114 (or 115).
