One of my daughter's gets a lot of these invites and emails, especially from UPenn. Harvard was just 1 mailing and Brown, UPenn is email and snail mail almost every week. She has average SAT scores, great grades and multi-racial. I don't remember her brother with similar stats getting the same amount 4 years ago. I would think, unless for some reason, apps are dropping, Ivies get enough students applying without the heavy mail, whether by snail or email. Do they really need the application fee that badly or the yield stats?
I know it's common for many, I just thought Ivies usually didn't do it very much.
She might apply, but doesn't think she has much of a chance and not because of the mail which she knows is not indicative of anything.
