Housing - any need to deposit quickly for housing?

My D was accepted at Pitt. She is waiting to hear from other schools but I think Pitt is still her top choice. I know at Penn State, it's important to make a housing deposit early if you want to live on campus. I forget what they said about housing at Pitt. Is it guaranteed freshman year and do we need to make a deposit early to get a better choice in housing?

It is my understanding that Pitt will not send you a housing application until after you have sent them the enrollment deposit (which is non-refundable). I know the Honors housing is very competitive (not enough rooms for all the applicants). Would love to hear from other parents about this.

We waited until my daughter made the decision to attend, which would have been shortly before May 1. On-campus housing at Pitt is guaranteed for three years for freshmen who meet the deadlines.

Honors housing is in short supply, but it's not first come, first served. Kids have to write an essay, and whether they get honors housing or not is based on that. Just make sure to meet the deadline for submitting the essay.

I wouldn't sweat the housing. My daughter loves her room in Tower B and the convenient location. She has lots of friends in Forbes (the honors dorm), and the kids go back and forth all the time. They're all happy! Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.
