Hey! So I sent my stuff in for December 1st deadline ot be in the running for the richmond scholars program. Do any of you know how soon we find out if we made it to the next round? I really hope things work out with that, so I am super anxious to see what happens, but have NO IDEA when to expect anything...

    sharkie,

If the program is set up like it was last year, you should hear by late January or early February whether you have been sent to the next round of possible scholars. This will also be your acceptance letter if you are accepted.

I got semifinalist notification today, but I think it's rolling.

I, too, got semifinalist notification today. :) Everything is due Jan 3rd though, so I can't imagine hearing much later than today. It's kind of short notice.

Did you get notification by snail mail or e-mail?

My son received notification for the Richmond Scholars today too (via email), however, it didn't mention that he had been accepted. Does anyone know how many kids get invited to this each year. I understand that only 45 will ultimately receive the scholarship. Please anyone with info please give your input on this. Thanks!!!!!!

To those who have been notified that you are semifinalists, when (approx.) did you submit your application to U of Richmond?

I was Early Decision. I'm assuming if you're reg. decision and you're a semifinalist, you're in the school..

S got semi-finalist notification today. Applied four weeks ago.

If you didn't receive an email today do you think that means you were not considered as a semi-finalist? Do you know if they typically send out notifications saying you did not make the cut?
  • ohiomom24ohiomom24 Posts: 534Registered User Member
I don't think that it means you didn't make the cut if you didn't receive an email today/yesterday. In the past, they have sent semi-finalist notifications out in batches, usually one before the holiday break and a couple after. My understanding is that they only notify semi-finalists, so you will not get a notification if you were not chosen as a semi-finalist.

Dad55 and mld: Thanks for letting me know when you/your son applied. Congrats!

Ok well thats comforting, I have my alumni interview early this week so maybe that helps my case.

Congrats to everyone that has already been notified, would anyone mind posting their stats or basic information?

I submitted my application the night it was due (Dec 1, horrible procrastination I know). Judging from threads on here I think there have been 500-600 semifinalists each year in the past, and you can basically count on acceptance if you get it unless your senior year grades are horrible. My ACT was a 34, 4.02 GPA, and I go to school in Richmond (not sure if that matters or not).

I applied ED so I know I was accepted.

I'm a female from a NC public school.
    3.75 Unweighted GPA
33 ACT/1860 SAT (obviously my ACT was much, much better)
President of one club, founder and member of 2 others, plus 300+ hours of volunteering at the same place.

I kind of have a lot of weird circumstances, too, so it's hard to judge off of me. I'm 16, will graduate at 16, and will turn 17 in July, after skipping a grade when I moved in the middle of 8th grade. I also take a lot of online classes in a special program from NCSSM, a really awesome math/science school in NC.
