Sent in enrollment deposit...now what?

So we sent my son's enrollment fee of $700 in yesterday morning (yay!) and other than a confirmation that my credit card has been processed, he hasn't received any communication. We're just wondering what to expect next. Will he get an email from UR, or a letter or something? We just sort of want to know he's officially enrolled and that he's in the university system before declining other schools.

Tomorrow I'll ask our Communications Team what the progression is from here...

I believe that the next "big" thing is the Enrolling Student Packet, which is sent out around the 3rd week of May (or so). I'll ask if there's another small email / anything that goes out beforehand.

I'll post again once I know more!

My child was accepted ed and we haven't heard peep, except a sweatshirt a few weeks ago. In fact I was getting a little nervous at the silence.

It would be nice if they did something to reach out and give some kind of timeline of what to expect. A newsletter or something official saying more than hearing on here that you'll hear from us in May would be nice. And hopefully that thing in May isn't just about tuition. I somehow think they won't forget to send the bill!

It would be nice if they sent out info about orientation, or housing, or class choices or summer programs or even a letter from the president about the state of the school. It's like once your admitted you drop off the face of the earth.

Acceptances aren't due until the end of the month and it's not even the 15th. Keep that in mind. Most of the process is aimed at who is coming, getting out financial aid packages, etc.

LOL. My son received an email from UR just this morning confirming that the enrollment fee and form had been processed and that a packet would be sent out mid May. We just wanted to have that acknowledgment before turning down other schools.

Thanks everyone!

I understand that lerg - it would be nice to just add names to a mailing list and let people feel a little more in the loop with the happenings at the school instead of complete silence for 6 months.

The only thing I can see is on my daughter's MY ROC, it says enrollment deposit received.

Gee, I sort of wish they'd stop sending me bills.

To address eyemamom's concerns, I just learned all of the details from our Communications Team...

Once you submit the $700 Enrollment Deposit, you will receive the confirmation email that PinotNoir referred to above. We have to wait until May 1st to figure out who is / isn't coming so we can address our enrolled students all at once.

The University of Rochester has a specific "Enrolled Student Calendar" that plans out all of the communications pieces that will be sent out once we fill our freshman class.

The first piece is the Enrolling Student Packet. This Enrolling Student Packet contains many things, including a checklist of deadlines for forms that need to be submitted to UR, the Res Life / Dining Services Contract, Health forms, etc. This packet will go out around mid-May.

After that, there will be an email (or some other communications piece) going out approximately every month up until orientation to all enrolled students.

I understand that for Early Decision students who may have deposited months ago that the wait is long, and thanks for being patient. Hopefully all of our communication efforts to bring you to our 2016 Experience events (admitted student days) reached you. There will be much more to come in the months ahead! You can also contact us if you have any concerns, eyemamom.

We are actually enjoying the break before the next step. There has been so much energy put into the college application and decision process, i.e. planning for the future; it is nice now that the the decision is made to be able to take a break and focus on high school and live for today for a bit before they need to start thinking about next steps again. It is all in how you look at it. We'll be excited to see the orientation, housing and other information, but for now we don't mind a break in the information overload.

Wait until the bills come. The one for next month came. I looked at the email and wondered what I could possibly owe. Went to the bursar link and it said $0. I'm thinking of printing that out and framing it.

Just want to add our name to the group. Sent in our deposit today online. Wish they would have accepted Amex, I am always looking for ways to accumulate jetblue miles

They take Amex for paying your regular bills. Cash back at Costco.

Advising at U of R

Can you please tell me if I will be assigned an advisor prior to arriving at the freshman orientation in August? I am not sure if I want to pursue Mechanical or BM Engineering. The 1st semester courses are a little different depending on what I decide. Thought it would be a good idea to discuss with someone sooner rather than later. Thanks for your help!
