My GPA took somewhat of a nosedive Sophomore year due to my mother, father and grandmother undergoing serious surgery within a month span. My Junior year average was a 91.0 (3.6 GPA)

My short answer is about my computer science tutoring.

My personal essay is about my parents' separation and how I have learned to adapt and become more independent.

Thanks!

I almost never respond to chance threads but I can't let a negative stand without saying something more positive. It's somewhat of a reach and maybe UR would be tough for you, just looking at scores, but it's not out of reach by any means.

You'll never know if you don't try.

All three SAT scores (M, W, CR) are within the middle 50% reported by UR on their Fast Facts page. Your GPA is solid and you've done cool things with your time. Don't think for a minute you aren't a viable candidate. If you like the school, make sure you visit and interview, and put time into a thoughtful application. As Creekland said, you won't know if you don't try.
