| Hey! I'm going to be attending the U of R in the fall as a Biological Sciences major! I also intend to be pre-med and eventually enroll in medical school. I think U of R is an amazing place to study science because the resources there are boundless! For example, the U of R Medical Center is right next to the undergraduate campus, and you have to opportunity to do research and clinical volunteering. The medical school is also located in the medical center and you have the ability to contact staff and students there (they like read essays and do mock interviews for med school). You can;t really get these opportunities at other schools haha! The open curriculum at Rochester is also awesome, so if you ever feel the need to switch majors i don't think it'll ever be a major problem... As to the quality of life at Rochester, I think it's great. I stayed overnight for the Renaissance scholarship weekend (the Renaissance scholarship is yet another reason why I chose Rochester!), and I liked the dorm I stayed in, and I thought all of the students were really, really nice and friendly. I think the quality of life is great at the U of R, it's gorgeous campus, and the city of Rochester is really nice as well. I know I'm totally biased, but you should totally come to the U of R!! If finances are a concern for you (and they were for me) I would highly recommend going to the UMass Honors Program. Like if I didn't get the Renaissance, then I would have appealed my Financial Aid packages to Rice and Tufts, and if that didn't work out then I would have totally gone to the UConn Honors Program (equally as awesome =]) But yeah... pick Rochester! |
