Its that time of year when students are making (if they haven't already) their final decision as to which school to attend in the fall. Those considering UR seem to be undecided between it and other "peer" schools--roughly ranked by us news 20-40 National, top 8-30 LACs--thus it would be greatly appreciated if others could weigh in on what they believe are the Pros and Cons of UR relative to other "peer" schools. What makes it truly a "top-tier" university? (I,personally, am interested in econ and math)

i think this has been asked like a million times and most responses can be searched in past threads.

but in general:
pros:
- cluster systems as opposed to distributed requirements
- classes taught by professors as opposed to TAs
- undergrad research opportunities
- Take -5/Key
- free music lessons at Eastman School of Music
- for premed people access to Strong Hospital for research and internships
- friendly student body

Cons:
- terrible food
- location
- weather

why top-tier:
what is this questions asking? Why is Rochester top-tier or why should you consider other top-tiers? as to the first, dunno USNews ranking has some sort of magical formula. As for other schools, depends on the school and its pros and cons.
